so, yah, i'm back from iceland (three days in and around reykjavik) and scotland (one day in glasgow (the self-proclaimed "curry capital of the world" and inventors of chicken tikka masala) and one in edinburgh). happy belated thanksgiving and stuff to all. the trip was fun and eye-opening, but i won't bore you to death with the details. especially since i didn't keep a travelog this time, so it would take me an obscene amount of time to conjure up the memories.
i would like to dwell on the irony, however, of the fact that, after all my pre-trip cold weather prep, iceland was having a heat wave (it was about 40 degrees F the entire time i was there -- approximately 40 degrees F warmer than usual for this time of year, according to that girl at the hostel) but upon my return to the states i was hit with 20 degree weather and 8 inches of snow. you're right, george w., global warming is a crock.
i took some pics, and realized that i definitely need to buy a larger memory stick for the camera before i go on another trip. and, maybe i should try to take pictures before the sun sets. things just don't look as pretty through a camera as they do to me, when the light is low. (judging by the piles of almost black pictures i have from throughout the years, it has taken me far too long to learn this simple lesson). that, and i need to stop taking so many pics of the fucking landscape. not that i know what else there is worth taking pictures of, but whatever. people seem annoyed by landscape pictures.
anyway, pics are here and here.
